The Australian Red Cross is empowering communities nationwide with the launch of its EmergencyRedi workshops, designed to enhance disaster resilience through practical and psychological preparedness for a wide range of disasters from extreme heat and fires to floods and blackouts.
These flexible, interactive workshops are grounded in the award-winning RediPlan, a comprehensive household emergency plan applicable to all types of emergencies. Participants are guided to assess personal risks, develop tailored emergency strategies, and complete their own RediPlan. The sessions are adaptable to various group sizes and can be conducted in diverse settings, from community halls to workplaces.
"Emergencies can strike at any time, and being prepared is crucial," said Nichola Krey, National Resilience Director at Australian Red Cross. "Our EmergencyRedi workshops provide individuals and households with the tools and knowledge to respond effectively, ensuring they are ready for whatever comes their way."
The workshops cover essential topics such as risk assessment, psychological readiness, household planning, and the completion of a personalized RediPlan. They aim to foster a proactive approach to disaster preparedness, encouraging participants to take meaningful steps toward safeguarding themselves and their communities.
