Demand your elected officials step up action to regulate single use plastic

The federal government announced in September 2026 it will shelve a 2023 promise to implement national packaging standards aimed at curbing plastic waste, citing cost of living concerns.

As Australia is the second-largest generator of single-use plastic waste per person in the world there is no time to waste. Please join the Boomerang Alliance and tell your elected officials that the government must act to legislate an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme for Packaging that requires producers to fully fund the collection and recovery of their packaging, with mandatory reduction, reuse and recycling targets.
